Ibn Sina·Arabic

About this text

Ibn Sina's philosophical encyclopedia covering logic, physics, mathematics, and metaphysics. The most comprehensive philosophical work produced in the Islamic world.

The necessarily existent is that which, if assumed not to exist, leads to an absurdity. The possibly existent is that which, whether assumed to exist or not to exist, does not lead to an absurdity. The necessarily existent has no cause for its existence, while everything else derives its existence from it.
